General Admission Requirements

Secondary School Diploma with five academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122 (courses numbered 120 may be considered) including program specific prerequisites.

Bachelor of Arts

Minimum Average for Admission Consideration:

70%


Majors: Anthropology, Child and Family Studies, Classical Studies, Criminal Justice (Corrections, Criminal Justice Studies, Criminology, Policing), English Studies, Environmental Geography, Gender Equality and Social Justice, Geography, History1, Indigenous Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Religions and Cultures, Social Welfare and Social Development2

Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122 plus four additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

Major: Economics

Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122; one of Foundations of Math 120, Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120), Calculus 120 plus three additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

Majors:  Computer Science, Mathematics

Admission Requirements: English Language Arts 40S; Calculus 120; Foundations of Math 120 or Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120) plus two additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

1 Applicants interested in the Bachelor of Arts (History) with an Orientation to a Master of Arts in History require a minimum average of 80% for admission consideration. This is a highly competitive, limited enrollment program. The average required for admission may be higher than the stated minimum.

Nipissing also offers a joint Bachelor of Arts (Social Welfare and Social Development)/Social Service Worker diploma with Canadore College. Students in this program will spend one year at Canadore and graduate with both their degree and diploma in 4 years.

Bachelor of Business Administration

Minimum Average for Admission Consideration:

Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122 plus four additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122. Two of Foundations of Math 120, Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120) and Calculus 120 are recommended.  Applicants without two maths will be required to complete MATH 1911 and/or MATH 1912 in their first year.

Bachelor of Fine Arts

Bachelor of Physical and Health Education

Major: Environmental Biology and Technology

Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122; Biology 121 or 122; Chemistry 121 or 122; one of Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120), Calculus 120 or Physics 121 or 122 plus one additional academic Grade 12 course numbered 121 or 122.

Major: Environment and Physical Geography

Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122; one of Foundations of Math 120, Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120), or Calculus 120; one of Chemistry 121 or 122, or Physics 121 or 122 plus two additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

Major: Psychology

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Foundations Pathway

Minimum Average for Admission Consideration:

60–69%


Liberal Arts Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122 plus four additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

Liberal Science Admission Requirements: English 121 or 122; two of Chemistry 121 or 122, Mathematics (Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120) or Calculus 120) or Physics 121 or 122 plus two additional academic Grade 12 courses numbered 121 or 122.

The Foundations Pathway is intended for students who are determined to earn a university education but have faced challenges in an academic environment. It is designed to assist with the transition from high school to university.

Undergraduate Degree with Concurrent Education

Minimum Average for Admission Consideration:

70%


Admission Requirements: The regular requirements for the Honours undergraduate program you select to complete with Concurrent Education. In addition, you will need to present English 121 or 122 with a minimum grade of 70% and one of Foundations of Math 110, Pre-Calculus 110, Foundations of Math 120, Pre-Calculus (A120 or B120), or Calculus 120 with a minimum grade of 60%.
